Imatges D'Obreres, 2026

Experimental Video. 10'41'', HDV, color and B&W, 16:9.

Imatges D'Obreres is a dive into diverse materials and archives of women peasants from Latin America and Catalonia. While researching the book "Coffee planters, workers, and wives – Class Conflict And Gender Relations On Sao Paulo Coffee Plantations", by the anthropologist Verena Stolcke, who lives in Barcelona, I only found a copy at the library of the Pavilion of the Republic. There, I encountered Lourdes Prades, the director, who shared her insights on peasant women during the Spanish Civil War. Inspired by Stolcke's work, I envisioned an experimental video where peasant women imagine during their rest hours, highlighting their role in agricultural life. Additionally, I discovered images of Catalan peasant women and film history. Here, paying homage to their unseen contributions. This interconnected journey illuminated the stories of women across different cultures and time periods.
